Can you have Mirena inserted when you are on your period?

I have an appointment to have my Mirena IUD birth control inserted for the first time. The appointment is on Wednesday and I should be on my period by then according to my birth control pills which are normally pretty accurate. Can you have this procedure done when you are on your period? I plan on calling my doctor tomorrow I just wanted to see if anyone else had this procedure done. Thanks!

yes the doctors actually recommend you get it inserted when you are like 2-3 days into your period. i am getting mirena inserted in me in a couple weeks and they told me to make the appointment when i get my next period and it cant be the first day cause its too heavy so like the 3rd day is good.
